Medea

Why the Greeks? With the start of our New Teens and Theatre Company why did I choose to start with the Greek Theatre? Be cause theatre, as we know it began with the Greeks. The opportunity to explore the beginnings of theatre with our courageous young thespians was an experience I will always cherish, for our intrepid young adventurers took to the myths and history of the Greeks with a relish and excitement that vitalized the project. Understanding other cultures and histories is the first step to understanding our own. In this our student actors showed a remarkable understanding of the emotions and drives that propelled the story. The flaws of human nature that drove Medea, Jason, and the Gods of Myth still exist today, but armed with the tales and follies of the Greek myths perhaps we can avoid the same traps.

The Homeschool Teens and Theatre (TnT) has been hard at work on a production of a great classic Greek tragedy: "Medea" by Euripides. Also presented will be "Myths and Me": a piece based on Greek legends written by our teens during our fall session . Please come out and support our teen actors!

Performances will be Thursday, 6 December at 7:30 pm; Saturday, 8 December at 2 pm; and Sunday, 9 December at 2 pm. Please join us at The Comedy Spot, 4238 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, VA 22203 for this wonderful program. Click here for directions.
